I believe that the MLDA should be lowered to help the underage drinkers. Not because I support drinking in any way but I think that if the MLDA was lowered then teens would be able to drink safely. If the drinking age was lowered because teens wouldn't have to drink in dangerous environments. 18 is also the legal age of adulthood, so that also means that teens should be able to make whatever decisions that they want when they become that age, even if it isn't the right or most responsible one. If the MLDA was lowered, adults could supervise when alcohol is being given to teens that are 18 and older.
With the MLDA lowered, teens wouldn't have to drink in dangerous environments because it would be legal to drink in public or at a bar. Teens could make drinking a normal activity that wouldn't have to be, drink as much as you can at one party. Teens want to rebel against adults which is a main reason that they drink, but if the MLDA is lowered then they wouldn't have the need to do what they think is not allowed. I personally do not support teen drinking but it is better for teens to be safe rather than in danger.
One main point of lowering the MLDA is that 18 is the legal age of adulthood. Kids 18 years old and up are allowed to make their own decisions no matter how irresponsible they are including consumption of alcohol. I think that if kids know that they can make their own choices then they will not attemp to rebel because they know that they are not breaking rules. Even though I don't think it is responsible for teens to drink, they should be allowed when they turn 18 because thay is when they gain most of there rights as citizens.
Lastly, if the MLDA was lowered then kid would be able to be supervised while drinking. If 18 year olds knew that they were allowed to drink alcohol legally then adults could supervise their parties to make sure that it doesn't get out of hand. With adult supervision teens wouldn't have to drink in dangerous environments, which means that less young people would loose their lives from binge drinking. All of these examples are able to support my argument that the MLDA should be lowered not to cause more parties to take place but so that teens 18 and above can dring responsibly and safely.
